The complete UK ring size chart โ every size from A to Z+2, diameter & circumference in mm, US & EU conversions, average sizes for men & women, and how to measure at home accurately
UK ring sizes are lettered A through Z+2, based on the inner circumference of the ring in millimetres. Each half-size step is approximately 0.4โ0.6 mm in circumference. The average UK women's ring size is LโN and the average UK men's ring size is TโV. Knowing your exact diameter or circumference lets you find your letter size instantly using the chart below.
The UK ring sizing system uses letters from A to Z+2, where each letter corresponds to a specific inner circumference in millimetres. Unlike the US numeric system or the EU/ISO numeric system, UK sizes progress in small half-letter increments (e.g. L, Lยฝ, M, Mยฝ). This chart covers every UK ring size, its diameter and circumference in mm, plus conversions to US, EU, and Japanese sizes โ making it the only ring size chart UK reference you need in 2026.
The most common UK women's ring size is Lยฝ to N, with M being the single most stocked size. This corresponds to a finger circumference of approximately 49โ52 mm and a diameter of 15.7โ16.6 mm. Ring finger sizes for women in the UK range from H (petite) to R (larger hands).
The most common UK men's ring size is T to V, with T being the most stocked. This corresponds to a circumference of approximately 61โ64 mm and a diameter of 19.6โ20.4 mm. Men's sizes typically range from Q (slim) to Z+ (large build).

Always measure your finger at the end of the day when fingers are at their largest. Fingers shrink in cold weather and swell in heat, so avoid measuring first thing in the morning or in very cold conditions. Measure the same finger on the hand you will wear the ring on โ the dominant hand is typically half a UK size larger than the non-dominant hand.
Cut a thin strip of paper, wrap it around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length in mm. That is your circumference โ look it up in the chart above.
Wrap a piece of string or thread around your finger, mark the overlap point, then lay it flat against a ruler to measure in mm. Works well for measuring knuckle size too.
Place an existing ring flat on a ruler and measure the inner diameter in mm. Match the diameter to the ring size chart above to find your UK letter size instantly.
Many UK jewellers โ including H.Samuel, Beaverbrooks, and Ernest Jones โ offer free printable ring sizer cards. Print at 100% scale, cut out the strip, and slot through the tab to find your size.
The most accurate method. Any UK jeweller will size your finger for free using metal ring gauges. Recommended for engagement rings, wedding bands, or any ring costing over ยฃ100.
Use a digital calliper to measure your finger's diameter directly in mm for the highest accuracy. Ideal if you already have one at home, or borrow one from a hardware store.
Measure the exact finger you plan to wear the ring on. In the UK, engagement rings and wedding bands are traditionally worn on the left ring finger. Eternity rings and fashion rings can be worn on any finger.
Use a strip of non-stretchy paper or thin string. Wrap it snugly around the base of your finger โ not too tight, not too loose. It should slide over your knuckle with slight resistance.
Mark the exact point where the paper or string overlaps. Lay it against a mm ruler and measure the length. This is your inner circumference in mm.
Find your circumference measurement in the Circ. (mm) column of the full UK ring size chart above. The corresponding letter in the first column is your UK ring size.
If your knuckle is noticeably wider than the base of your finger, size up by half a UK letter. If ordering a wide band (6 mm+), also size up by half a letter to account for extra compression.
Always measure at least twice and take the average. Measure at different times of day if possible. If you are between two sizes, always choose the larger UK size โ a slightly loose ring is safer than one that won't go on.
Most UK gold, silver, and platinum rings can be resized by a jeweller โ typically by 1โ2 UK sizes up or down. However, rings with full-circumference gemstone settings (eternity rings), tungsten carbide rings, and titanium rings cannot be resized. Always get professionally measured before ordering these ring types. Standard resizing at a UK jeweller typically costs ยฃ20โยฃ60 depending on the metal and extent of resizing required.
