Our Editorial Approach

Research, Writing & Calculator Development

Every guide, chart, and calculator on RingChart.co.uk is researched and written by our in-house content team with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and practical usefulness. Our sizing data is cross-referenced against published standards from the British Standards Institution (BSI), ISO international ring size guidelines, and size charts published by major UK and international jewellers including H.Samuel, Beaverbrooks, Ernest Jones, Goldsmiths, Tiffany & Co, Blue Nile, and James Allen. Where sources differ, we document the variation and explain which standard is most commonly used in UK retail practice. All calculators are tested against physical ring gauges and verified circumference measurements before publication. Pages are reviewed and updated annually โ€” or whenever a significant change in UK retail sizing standards is identified.

โญ What We Stand For
โœ…

Accuracy First

Every circumference, diameter, and conversion figure on this site is verified against multiple authoritative sources. We do not publish guessed or estimated sizing data โ€” if we cannot verify a figure, we say so.

๐Ÿ†“

Always Free

Every chart, calculator, and guide on RingChart.co.uk is and will always be completely free to use. No registration, no subscription, no paywalls. Ring sizing information should be accessible to everyone.

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

UK-Specific

We write for UK shoppers using the UK letter sizing system. We reference UK retailers, UK consumer rights, UK return and resize policies, and UK measurement standards. Not a US-centric guide repackaged for the UK market.

๐Ÿ“…

Kept Up to Date

Ring sizing standards and retailer policies change. Every page on this site carries a review date and is updated at least annually โ€” more frequently when UK jewellery retailer policies change significantly.

๐Ÿ’ก

Practical & Honest

We tell you what actually works โ€” including the limitations of home measurement methods, when to visit a jeweller in person, and when a particular ring type genuinely cannot be resized. No overpromising.

๐Ÿ‘ซ

For Every Occasion

Engagement rings, wedding bands, signet rings, eternity rings, fashion rings, surprise gifts โ€” we cover every ring-buying scenario with specific, relevant guidance rather than one-size-fits-all advice.

๐Ÿ”ฌ How We Verify Our Ring Size Data
๐Ÿ”ฌ

Our Sizing Data is Cross-Referenced Against Multiple Authoritative UK and International Sources

Inaccurate ring size information causes real problems โ€” a wrong-size engagement ring, a wedding band that cannot be worn on the wedding day, an expensive online order that needs to be returned. We take data accuracy seriously. Our size charts are verified against ISO 8653:2016 (international ring size standard), the British Standards Institution ring gauge specifications, and the published size charts of a minimum of four major UK jewellery retailers before any chart is published on this site.

1

ISO 8653:2016 International Standard โ€” Our Primary Reference

All circumference (MM) and diameter (MM) values on RingChart.co.uk are based on ISO 8653:2016 โ€” the international standard for ring sizing that defines the relationship between internal circumference in millimetres and ring size designations across all major international sizing systems (UK, US, EU, Japanese, Australian). This is the same standard used by the British Standards Institution and major UK jewellery manufacturers. Where US or Japanese size designations differ between sources, we use the ISO standard as the definitive reference.

2

Cross-Referenced Against Major UK Retailer Published Size Charts

Before publication, every size chart on this site is cross-referenced against the published ring size guides of H.Samuel, Beaverbrooks, Ernest Jones, and Goldsmiths โ€” the four largest UK high street jewellers. Where minor discrepancies exist between retailers (typically ยฑ0.1โ€“0.2mm at specific sizes), we note the standard value and the range of variation observed. For US size conversions, we additionally cross-reference against Blue Nile, James Allen, and Tiffany & Co published size guides.

3

Calculator Logic Tested Against Physical Ring Gauges

Every calculator on this site uses the same circumference-based lookup logic as our published charts. Calculator results are tested against actual physical ring gauge sets (standard UK Aโ€“Z+2 gauge sticks) to confirm that the calculator outputs match the real-world ring sizes a UK jeweller would assign to the same measurements. Any discrepancy greater than 0.5mm circumference triggers a review and correction before the calculator is published.

4

Annual Review Cycle โ€” Pages Marked with Last-Reviewed Date

Ring sizing standards are stable, but retailer policies, UK consumer law, and international conversion conventions do change. Every page on RingChart.co.uk is reviewed at least once per year and updated as needed. Each page carries a "Last Updated" date so you can always see how current the information is. Pages are also reviewed and updated immediately when a significant policy change is identified โ€” for example, changes to major UK jeweller free-resize windows or updates to ISO ring size standards.

๐Ÿค Our Promise to You
  • โœ… We will never charge you for ring size information. Every chart, calculator, guide, and tool on RingChart.co.uk is and will always remain completely free. There are no premium plans, no locked content, and no requirement to create an account or provide your email address to access any part of this site.
  • ๐Ÿ” We will always cite the source of our sizing data. Where we publish circumference and diameter figures, conversion values, or statistical averages, we reference the authoritative source (ISO standard, BSI, or specific UK retailer published data). We do not publish ring size figures without being able to verify them.
  • ๐Ÿ“ We will tell you when information is uncertain or contested. Ring sizing involves some genuine ambiguity โ€” particularly in US quarter-size conversions, wide-band adjustments, and the variation between different UK retailers' size charts. Where this ambiguity exists, we document it honestly rather than presenting a single figure as if it were universally agreed.
  • ๐Ÿ”„ We will update our content when standards or policies change. The core sizing data is stable, but UK retailer resize policies, consumer rights rules, and international conversion conventions do change. When they do, we update the relevant pages promptly rather than leaving outdated information in place.
  • ๐Ÿ“ฌ We will respond to corrections and feedback. If you find an error on RingChart.co.uk โ€” a wrong conversion figure, an outdated retailer policy, a broken calculator โ€” please tell us. Accurate information matters to us more than appearing infallible. We will investigate every reported error and correct any genuine mistakes.
  • ๐Ÿšซ We will never recommend a specific ring purchase for commercial reasons. Where we reference UK retailers (H.Samuel, Beaverbrooks, Ernest Jones, Blue Nile etc.) we do so only to help you understand their sizing and resize policies โ€” not because of any commercial arrangement. Our retailer references are chosen for editorial relevance, not sponsorship.
