The complete 2026 ring size chart by inner diameter โ find your UK, US, EU, French and Japanese ring size from diameter in mm, cm or inches. Full conversion table, diameter visual scale, printable ruler, calculator and expert measurement guide.
Inner diameter = the straight-line distance across the inside of a ring at its widest point. Measure with a mm ruler or digital calipers.
Each circle is drawn proportionally to the ring's inner diameter. Find your mm measurement and match to a circle. Gold = women's average (UK M, 15.9mm). Blue = men's average (UK T, 19.8mm).
Print at 100% (no page scaling). Place your ring over each circle and match the inner edge to find your ring's inner diameter in mm. Best used with a metal or silver ring on white paper.
Ring diameter is the straight-line distance measured across the inside of a ring at its widest point, expressed in millimetres (mm). It is the standard measurement used by ring gauges, digital calipers and jewellers' mandrels worldwide. To convert diameter to circumference โ which gives the EU ring size directly โ multiply by ฯ (3.14159). The average UK women's ring inner diameter is 15.9 mm (UK Size M, US 6, EU 50). The average UK men's ring inner diameter is 19.8 mm (UK Size T, US 10, EU 62). Measure an existing ring's diameter in mm and look it up in the Diameter MM column below for an instant conversion to every country's ring size system.

Best: Digital calipers (ยฃ8โยฃ15 from hardware or Amazon) give diameter readings accurate to 0.1 mm. Good: A millimetre ruler held flat across the ring. Home method: Place the ring on paper, trace the inside with a pencil, then measure the traced circle's diameter with a mm ruler. A ring mandrel (ring sizer stick) is available from jewellery suppliers and gives direct UK letter size readings.
Place the ring flat on a surface. With digital calipers, insert the jaws into the inner hole and measure across the widest interior point โ this is the inner diameter. With a ruler, position the ruler so the 0 mm mark aligns with one inner edge and read the measurement at the opposite inner edge. Always measure the inside of the ring, not the outside. A typical women's ring measures 14โ18 mm; a men's ring measures 18โ22 mm.
Record the measurement in millimetres (mm) โ e.g. 15.9 mm, 19.8 mm. If your ruler shows only centimetres, multiply by 10 to get mm (e.g. 1.59 cm ร 10 = 15.9 mm). Measure 2โ3 times to confirm โ small measurement errors of even 0.5 mm can shift the result by one ring size. Digital calipers remove most of this uncertainty.
Locate your mm reading in the Diam. MM column of the chart above. If your reading is between two rows, use the row with the next larger diameter. Read across to find your UK, US, EU, French and Japanese ring sizes. Alternatively, enter your mm value into the calculator above for an instant multi-system result.
The ring must pass over your knuckle to sit at the base of the finger. Measure the widest part of your knuckle in the same way โ wrap a strip of paper around the knuckle and measure the circumference, then convert. If your knuckle measurement gives a size more than one full size larger than your base measurement, order to fit the knuckle and use a ring adjuster clip at the base to prevent spinning.
