The average UK men's ring size is UK T–T½ — inner diameter 19.56–19.76mm (1.956–1.976cm), inner circumference 61.4–62.1mm (6.14–6.21cm). The common men's range is UK P–Z (17.93–21.79mm / 1.793–2.179cm diameter).
Below men's average. Common for slim or younger men, and for little finger rings. Overlaps with larger women's sizes. All stocked at major UK jewellers. US 6–7½ · EU 51–55.
Just below men's average. Common for slim-to-average build men and very popular for signet rings worn on the little finger. Widely stocked. US 8–9 · EU 56–59.
The most common men's ring size range in the UK. UK T–T½ is cited as the single most popular men's size by Abelini, Fenton, Queensmith and Beaverbrooks. US 9½–10¼ · EU 60–63.
Above average men's sizing. Common for larger build men. Widely stocked at all major UK jewellers. Right-hand rings often run slightly larger. US 10¾–11¾ · EU 64–67.

Extended men's sizing Z½ through Z+4 (22.0–23.62mm). Often special order. Many UK jewellers offer bespoke sizing and professional resizing services for extended ranges. US 12½–14 · EU 69–74.
Fingers reach their natural everyday size between 2pm and 5pm at room temperature. Avoid measuring after the gym, in cold weather, or first thing in the morning — all of these can shift your reading by 1–2 UK sizes.
Measure the exact finger and hand you will wear the ring on. For most men, the ring finger on the dominant hand (usually right-handed = right hand) runs 0.5–1 UK size larger than the same finger on the other hand.
Cut a strip roughly 8mm wide and 14cm long from thin printer paper with clean straight edges. Avoid using thick card — it adds false width. A strip of plain paper or a soft sewing tape measure both work well.
Wrap the strip around the base of your ring finger. It should feel snug but still be able to rotate very slightly. Mark the exact overlap point with a fine pen, keeping the strip flat and untwisted throughout.
Lay the strip flat against a ruler. Read the length in millimetres — this is your inner circumference. E.g. 62.1mm = UK T½. Divide by 10 for centimetres. Enter the value into the calculator above for your full size result.
Measure 3 times at different points during the day. Use the largest reading as your ring size. For wide wedding bands (5mm+), consider ordering half a UK size up from your measured size as wider bands fit tighter.
💡 Pro tip for wedding rings: If buying a surprise ring, try to borrow an existing ring your partner wears on their ring finger. Lay it flat and measure the inner diameter across the widest point with a ruler in mm. Find that value in the Diameter MM column in the chart below for an instant size match.

For most men, the ring finger on the dominant hand is 0.5–1 UK size larger than the same finger on the other hand. Always measure the exact finger and hand the ring will be worn on — especially critical for wedding and signet rings.
Men's wedding bands are typically wider (5–8mm) than women's rings. A wide band sits tighter against the finger. If your ring is 5mm or wider, order half a UK size larger than your measured circumference size for a comfortable fit.
Significant weight change (10kg+), manual labour and sports activity can all alter ring size. Fingers used for heavy grip work may be up to 2 UK sizes larger than the resting measurement. Measure at your normal resting state, not after activity.
Men's finger diameter can fluctuate by up to 1–2 UK sizes between cold and warm conditions. Never measure after coming in from cold weather. Warm your hands to room temperature first, then measure in the afternoon for the most consistent result.
If your knuckle is noticeably larger than the base of your finger, measure both. The ring must pass over the knuckle to be worn — choose the size that clears the knuckle comfortably. A jeweller can add a sizing insert to prevent the ring from spinning on a slimmer base.
If your measurement falls between two UK sizes, always choose the larger size. Adjacent UK half-sizes are only ~0.2mm apart in diameter. A ring that is slightly loose is always more comfortable and safer than one that is too tight — jewellers can resize down more easily than up.
