What Is an Actual Size Ring Size Chart?

An actual size ring size chart displays every ring size as a circle printed or shown at its true inner diameter in mm. Unlike a numeric table, you can physically place an existing ring over the circles and find a match. On screen, the circles are accurate after screen calibration using a credit card. When printing, always print at 100% scale on A4 paper and verify with the credit card reference bar before measuring. The inner circle edge โ€” not the outer โ€” is what you align your ring to.

๐Ÿ’ณ Step 1 โ€” Calibrate Your Screen for Actual Size

Screen Calibration Using a Standard Credit Card

A standard credit/debit card measures exactly 85.6 mm wide ร— 54 mm tall. Place your physical card flat on screen over the card below, then drag the slider until they match perfectly. Click Calibrate to set actual size for the ring chart below.

Your UK Ring Size
โ€”
๐Ÿ“ How to Use the Actual Size Ring Chart โ€“ 3 Methods

Method 1 โ€” Place an Existing Ring on the Circles (Most Accurate)

1

Calibrate the screen or print at 100%

On screen: use the credit card calibration tool above. For print: print on A4 at 100% scale (no "fit to page"). Verify the printed credit card reference bar matches your physical card exactly before proceeding.

2

Place your ring face-down on the chart

Take a ring that fits well and lay it flat face-down on the actual size chart. Look from directly above โ€” parallax error from an angle will give a false reading.

3

Match inner edge to circle edge

Slide the ring over each circle. When the inner edge of the ring aligns exactly with the drawn circle, that is your UK size. If the ring sits between two circles, always choose the larger size for everyday comfort.

Method 2 โ€” Wrap Paper Around Finger & Measure

1

Cut a strip of thin paper ~15 cm ร— 0.5 cm

Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you plan to wear the ring on. Mark where the paper overlaps. Measure the marked length in mm with a ruler โ€” this is your circumference.

2

Find your circumference in the table

Match your mm measurement to the Circ. (mm) column in the reference table above. If between two sizes, round up to the larger size. Or use the calculator above for an instant result.

3

Check the corresponding actual-size circle

Once you have your UK letter, find that row in the actual size chart and view the circle for a visual confirmation of how your ring should fit.

Method 3 โ€” Measure Inner Diameter of Existing Ring with Ruler

1

Place ring flat on a ruler

Lay a well-fitting ring on a mm ruler. Measure directly across the inner opening โ€” from inside edge to inside edge. This is the inner diameter in mm.

2

Match to the Diameter (mm) column

Find your measured diameter in the Diameter (mm) column of the reference table, or enter it into the calculator above selecting "Diameter (mm)" as the unit. Read off your UK letter size.

๐Ÿ“ Key Measurement Formulas for Actual Size Ring Chart

Circumference โ†’ Diameter (find UK size from paper measurement)
Diameter (mm) = Circumference (mm) รท ฯ€ (3.14159)
Example: 52.5 mm รท 3.14159 = 16.71 mm โ†’ UK Size M (women's most common)
Diameter โ†’ Circumference (verify existing ring measurement)
Circumference (mm) = Diameter (mm) ร— ฯ€ (3.14159)
Example: 19.56 mm ร— 3.14159 = 61.4 mm โ†’ UK Size T (men's most common)
Screen Pixels โ†’ Actual mm (screen calibration reference)
mm on screen = pixels รท screen DPI ร— 25.4
Standard monitor (96 dpi): 1 mm = 3.7795 px โ€” always calibrate with credit card to confirm your screen's actual DPI
Diameter inches โ†’ mm (converting US ring diameter)
mm = inches ร— 25.4
Example: 0.658โ€ณ ร— 25.4 = 16.7 mm โ†’ UK Size M
๐Ÿ’ก Expert Tips for the Actual Size Ring Chart
  • ๐Ÿ–จ๏ธAlways print at 100% โ€” never scale to fit โ€” the most common printing mistake is allowing the printer to "fit to page." This resizes the circles and makes every measurement wrong. In print settings, set scale to 100% or Actual Size before printing.
  • ๐Ÿ’ณVerify with a credit card first โ€” after printing, immediately check the credit card reference bar. A standard card is 85.6 mm wide. If the bar does not match your card's width exactly, your print is not to scale. Reprint before measuring.
  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธLook straight down when matching โ€” when placing a ring over the chart, always look from directly above, not from an angle. Viewing at an angle (parallax error) can make a ring appear to fit a circle that is actually half a size off.
  • ๐ŸŒก๏ธMeasure in the afternoon โ€” fingers swell slightly throughout the day and in warm conditions. Measuring first thing in the morning can result in a ring that is too tight by the afternoon. Measure between midday and evening for the most wearable fit.
  • โ†‘Between two sizes? Always go larger โ€” if your ring sits between two circles on the actual size chart, always choose the larger UK size. A ring that is slightly loose can be worn with a ring size adjuster; a ring that is too tight cannot be comfortably worn at all.
  • ๐Ÿ“Wide bands need a larger size โ€” the actual size chart circles are calibrated for standard 2โ€“4 mm bands. For rings 8 mm or wider (e.g. wedding bands), order ยฝ to 1 full size larger than your chart match, as wider bands fit tighter on the finger.
  • ๐ŸคšMeasure the exact finger โ€” each finger is a different size. Never assume your ring finger is the same as your middle finger. Always measure or match the ring for the specific finger you intend to wear it on โ€” dominant hand ring fingers are typically ยฝ a UK letter larger than the non-dominant hand.

โ“ Actual Size Ring Size Chart UK โ€“ FAQs 2026
How do I use an actual size ring size chart? โ–พ
Calibrate your screen using the credit card tool above (or print at 100% scale on A4), then place an existing ring face-down on the chart. Slide it over each circle until the inner edge of the ring aligns with the circle edge exactly. That circle's label is your UK ring size. If the ring sits between two circles, choose the larger size for comfort.
Why does my actual size ring chart look wrong on screen? โ–พ
On-screen actual size accuracy depends entirely on your screen's DPI (dots per inch). The default assumes 96 dpi, but many modern screens โ€” especially laptops and 4K monitors โ€” have higher DPIs that make circles appear smaller than reality. Always use the credit card calibration tool above to adjust the scale for your specific screen before relying on the on-screen chart. Alternatively, print the chart for guaranteed accuracy.
How do I print the actual size ring size chart correctly? โ–พ
Click the Print Actual Size Chart button. In your printer settings, set the scale to 100% or Actual Size โ€” never "fit to page" or "shrink to fit." Print on standard A4 paper. After printing, place your physical credit card on the reference bar at the top of the chart โ€” if the bar measures exactly 85.6 mm wide (one credit card width), the chart has printed at true actual size.
What is UK ring size M in mm on the actual size chart? โ–พ
UK ring size M has an inner diameter of 16.71 mm and a circumference of 52.5 mm. On the actual size chart, size M is the most common women's ring size in the UK. Its circle on the printed or calibrated screen chart will appear just under 17 mm wide inside edge to inside edge.
What is the inner diameter of UK ring size T on the actual chart? โ–พ
UK ring size T has an inner diameter of 19.56 mm and a circumference of 61.4 mm. On the actual size chart, size T is the most common men's ring size in the UK. Its circle will appear just under 20 mm across, making it noticeably larger than the women's size M circle (16.71 mm).
Can I use an actual size ring chart on my phone? โ–พ
Yes, but phone screens vary significantly in DPI, so calibration is essential. Use the credit card calibration tool above on your phone screen, adjusting the slider until the on-screen card matches your physical card exactly. Then use the ring chart on-screen. Alternatively, printing on A4 is more reliable than any screen for an accurate actual size result.
My ring is between two circles โ€” which UK size should I choose? โ–พ
Always choose the larger of the two UK sizes. A ring that is half a size too large can be made snug using a ring size adjuster (a small plastic or metal clip that reduces the inner circumference slightly). A ring that is too tight can cause discomfort, restrict circulation, and is much harder to remove in warm conditions.
