Japanese ring sizes (also used in China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore) use a numeric scale beginning at approximately 37mm circumference = JP size 1. The scale increases by approximately 1.3mm per size step โ almost identical to the EU increment. JP 13 = UK N = US 6.5 (women's average) ยท JP 20 = UK T = US 9.5 (men's average). When ordering from Japanese or Korean jewellers online, simply find your JP equivalent in the chart above. Note: Chinese and Korean ring sizes are numerically identical to Japanese sizes in standard international retail.
Germany uses two systems side by side: the German size (DE) which equals the inner diameter in mm (DE 17 = 17mm diameter = UK N / US 6.5), and the EU/French size which equals the circumference in mm (EU 53 = 53mm circumference). Most German jewellers use both. To convert: German size ร ฯ (3.14159) = EU circumference. Example: DE 17 ร 3.14159 = 53.4mm โ EU 53 โ UK N. When ordering from a German jeweller, confirm which system they use โ diameter-based (DE) or circumference-based (EU).
Brazilian ring sizes use a numeric scale where BR 7 โ US 3 (UK F) ยท BR 16 โ US 6.5 (UK N, women's average) ยท BR 21 โ US 9.5 (UK T, men's average). The most common women's range in Brazil is BR 14โ18 and the most common men's range is BR 20โ24. Brazilian sizing is also used in some parts of South America. The increment per Brazilian size is approximately 1.25โ1.3mm in circumference โ the same as EU and Japanese steps.
Swiss ring sizes (also used in Spain) use a numeric scale where CH 14 โ US 6.5 (UK N, women's average) ยท CH 21 โ US 9.5 (UK T, men's average). Swiss sizes run from approximately CH 1 (inner circumference ~40mm) upward. Most Swiss jewellers (including Omega, IWC and Longines boutiques) will size in both Swiss and EU/US sizes on request.
